End of the peninsula
The practical question is how often, not how far
Watsons Bay, NSW is at the far end of the peninsula, so families here reasonably want to know how many times they will actually have to make the drive before they agree to anything.
Fewer than most people assume. Planning, records and fitting take the time at the start. After that it is short reviews, generally several weeks apart, and some stages allow a little flexibility in the spacing. We will map that out at the first appointment so the travel is a known quantity rather than an open question.
The treatment itself follows the same pattern as anywhere. A first look for a child around seven shows how the jaws are developing without committing anyone. Adults mostly ask about discretion, and ceramic brackets or aligners answer that in the majority of cases. Where the bite genuinely has to change, fixed braces remain the more capable option and we will say so plainly. Watsons Bay sits in the Municipality of Woollahra area. What we treat
Ceramic braces, aligners and early treatment
The appliance is one decision. How many trips it will take is the other, and at this end of the peninsula we treat both as part of the same conversation.
Clear aligners
Removable trays, changed at home every week or two rather than in the chair. Clear aligners →
Ceramic braces
Fixed, tooth coloured brackets, doing the work of steel much less visibly. Ceramic braces →
Traditional braces
Steel brackets. Often the shortest overall course, which counts when the drive is longer. Traditional braces →
Early treatment for children
A first look around seven, usually producing a review date rather than treatment. Children’s orthodontics →
Adult orthodontics
Routine, and discretion is usually the first question raised. Adult orthodontics →
Retainers
What holds the result once the appliance comes off. Retainers →

Two practices, both easy to reach
Questions we are asked most often
Do I need a referral?
No. Book an assessment directly.
How far is the practice from Watsons Bay?
Eighteen minutes by car down Old South Head Road, or the 324 or 325 bus towards Edgecliff. We are at 135 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra 2025.
How often would I need to make the trip?
Less often than most people expect. After planning and fitting, reviews are short and typically several weeks apart. We map the likely schedule at the first visit so the travel is known before you commit.
Can appointments be grouped to reduce trips?
Where clinically sensible, yes. Some stages need a set interval and cannot be compressed, but we will plan around the distance where the treatment allows it.
When should a child first be seen?
Around age seven, when enough adult teeth are through to show how the jaws are developing.
Can adults have treatment without it showing?
In most cases, using aligners or ceramic braces. Where the bite needs real correction fixed braces are still required.
What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?
Three further years of full time specialist training in tooth movement and bite correction.
What will it cost?
We go through it at the assessment once the treatment is known.
