Nine minutes west
A small suburb, and no single pattern to the enquiries
Tamarama, NSW is small enough that we do not see one dominant type of case the way we do in Bondi or Coogee. What arrives is genuinely mixed — an adult asking about discreet treatment, a parent with a seven year old, someone whose teeth have crept back since braces two decades ago.
What unites them is a practical question: how much of a commitment is this really. The honest answer is that the front end takes the time. Planning, records and fitting are the long appointments. After that, reviews are short and spaced weeks apart, which for a nine minute run through the Junction is entirely manageable.
Whether aligners, ceramic or metal braces suit you depends on how far the teeth have to move and whether the bite changes with them. We work that out at the first appointment rather than before it. Tamarama sits in the Waverley Council area. Our approach generally is on the orthodontist in Sydney page.
Everywhere else we cover is set out on our areas we service page.

What we treat
Braces, clear aligners and early treatment
No two Tamarama enquiries look quite the same, so this section is deliberately a menu rather than a recommendation. The first appointment narrows it.
Clear aligners
Removable trays. Out for meals and the beach, in for the other twenty two hours. Clear aligners →
Ceramic braces
Fixed, tooth coloured brackets, for cases needing more control than trays give while staying discreet. Ceramic braces →
Traditional braces
Steel brackets. The most capable appliance when the bite has to change. Traditional braces →
Early treatment for children
A first look around seven, which usually produces a review date rather than a treatment plan. Children’s orthodontics →
Adult orthodontics
Routine, and relapse after teenage braces is one of the more common reasons people here get in touch. Adult orthodontics →
Retainers
The difference between a result that holds and one that quietly unwinds. Retainers →
Who you’ll see

Your first visit
What happens when you come in
Allow around an hour for the first visit. You are welcome to bring a partner or parent, and there is no obligation to start treatment on the day.
01
We talk it through
We ask what brought you in. Tamarama enquiries vary more than most, so this part is genuinely open.
02
We examine and take records
An examination, then scans or x-rays where needed. Bring recent x-rays from your dentist.
03
We explain the options
What is realistic, and a straight answer on whether the discreet route gets you there.
04
You take it away
You take it home rather than commit. Nothing is booked on the day.
Two practices, both easy to reach
Questions we are asked most often
Do I need a referral?
No. Book directly. Bring recent x-rays if you have been referred.
How far is the practice from Tamarama?
Nine minutes by car via Bondi Road and Bondi Junction, or a bus from Bronte Road to the interchange. We are at 135 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra 2025.
Are clear aligners suitable for everyone?
No. They cover most crowding and spacing but depend on being worn most of the day, and some bite corrections need the constant control of fixed braces. We will tell you honestly which applies.
My teeth moved after braces years ago. Can that be treated?
Yes. Teeth keep moving through adult life, particularly once a retainer stops being worn. Relapse work is often shorter than the original treatment, though it depends how far things have shifted.
What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?
Three further years of full time specialist training in tooth movement and bite correction.
When should a child first be seen?
Around age seven, when enough adult teeth are through to show how the jaws are developing.
How often would I come in?
Short reviews, usually several weeks apart, so the trip through the Junction is not regular.
What will it cost?
We go through it at the assessment once the treatment is known.
