Most people here have been thinking about it for years
A surprising number of patients from Paddington, NSW open with an apology, as if wanting straight teeth at forty two needs justifying. It does not. Teeth keep shifting for as long as you have them, and adult treatment is now completely ordinary.
The practical question is which appliance. Metal braces are the most versatile and often the shortest route when the bite has to change. Ceramic brackets do identical work while sitting far less noticeably. Aligners come out altogether and cover most crowding and spacing. One complication worth raising early: Paddington sends us more patients with existing crowns and veneers than most suburbs, and restored teeth need planning around rather than working around.
Six minutes down Oxford Street, inside the City of Sydney boundary, means the short reviews cost almost nothing in time. Our wider approach sits on the orthodontist in Sydney page.

What we treat
Metal braces, ceramic braces and clear aligners
Locally the search pattern runs adult treatment first, then metal braces. That is a suburb weighing effectiveness ahead of appearance, which makes the conversation straightforward.
Clear aligners
Removable trays covering most crowding and spacing. The obvious choice when nothing can show at work. Clear aligners →
Ceramic braces
Fixed, tooth coloured brackets. The work of metal braces without the appearance of them. Ceramic braces →
Traditional braces
Steel brackets, and the second most searched treatment from this postcode. Most versatile, frequently quickest. Metal and ceramic braces →
Early treatment for children
A first look around seven. Usually ends in a review date rather than braces. Early treatment for children →
Adult orthodontics
The majority of our Paddington patients, many of whom expected to be told it was too late. Adult orthodontics →
Retainers
The least interesting part of orthodontics and the one that decides whether the result lasts. Retainers →

Questions we are asked most often
Do I need a referral?
No. Book directly. Bring your dentist’s letter and recent x-rays if you have them.
How far is the practice from Paddington?
Six minutes by car along Oxford Street and Ocean Street, or roughly twenty minutes on foot from Five Ways. We are at 135 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra 2025.
Am I too old for braces?
No. Teeth move throughout adult life and treating them later is routine. Age changes which appliance suits and how existing dental work is handled, not whether treatment works.
I have crowns and veneers. Does that rule me out?
No, but it shapes the plan and is worth raising at the first appointment. Brackets bond differently to porcelain than to enamel, and the final position of restored teeth has to be planned deliberately. Bring details of any work you have had done.
What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?
Three further years of full time specialist training in moving teeth and correcting bites, on top of a dental degree.
How long does treatment run?
A few months to about two years, depending on what is being corrected.
How often would I come in?
Short reviews, usually several weeks apart. At six minutes most people fit them around the working day.
What will it cost?
We go through it at the assessment once the treatment is known. You get it in writing before anything begins.
