Coogee asks about aligners first, almost every time
If there is one suburb where the conversation reliably opens with Invisalign, it is Coogee, NSW. Aligners have changed who walks through the door — people who would never have entertained a mouthful of metal at thirty five are perfectly happy with a tray they take out for dinner.
They are not a universal answer, and we would rather say that now than three months in. Aligners are very good at crowding and spacing. They are less good when the bite itself has to change, and they do nothing at all sitting in a drawer. Where fixed treatment is genuinely the better route, ceramic brackets keep it discreet.

What happens when you come in
Allow around an hour for the first visit. You are welcome to bring a partner or parent, and there is no obligation to start treatment on the day.

We ask what prompted the call. For most people here that is a question about aligners, and it is a perfectly good place to begin.

We examine and take records
An examination, with scans or x-rays only where we need them. Recent x-rays from your dentist can be used instead of taking new ones.

We explain the options
Whether aligners will actually do what you are describing, what the alternatives are, and how many visits each would mean.

You take it away
You take it away. Nothing is booked on the day — given the drive, we would rather you decided at home than in the chair.

Do I need a referral?
No. Book an assessment directly. If your dentist has referred you, bring the letter and any recent x-rays.
How far is the practice from Coogee?
Fourteen minutes by car via Carrington Road or Alison Road. We are at 135 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra 2025. Woollahra is the closer of our two practices for Coogee.
Will Invisalign work for my teeth?
It depends what they have to do. Clear aligners handle most crowding and spacing well. They struggle where the bite needs real correction, and they only work if worn most of the day. An examination is the only way to know which camp you are in.
Aligners or ceramic braces — which should I pick?
Aligners come out for meals and events and suit simpler movement. Ceramic braces are fixed, so nothing depends on your discipline, and they manage corrections aligners cannot. If both would work we will tell you that rather than choose for you.
What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?
Three additional years of full time specialist training in tooth movement and bite correction. Your dentist looks after general dental health. We only move teeth. Most patients keep both.
When should a Coogee child first be seen?
Around age seven. Enough adult teeth are usually through to show how the jaws are developing. It rarely means starting then — most children are simply reviewed until the timing is right.
How many trips will I need to make?
Fewer than most people assume. After planning and fitting, reviews are short and several weeks apart. We will map the schedule at the first visit so the driving is a known quantity before you commit.
What will it cost?
We go through it at the assessment, once we know the treatment. Any figure quoted beforehand is a guess. You get it in writing before anything begins.
