Families arrive at two distinct points
North Bondi, NSW tends to come to us twice. First when a child is around seven and a dentist has flagged crowding, and again in the teenage years once the adult teeth are all through and the picture is finally clear.
Between those two moments not much needs to happen, and saying so is part of the job. Most first assessments end with a review date rather than a plan, because starting before the timing is right can lengthen the whole course.
Adults are the other half of what we see, and their question is almost always about visibility. Aligners come out entirely; ceramic brackets are fixed but tooth coloured and handle corrections trays cannot. Which one is right is a clinical question, not a preference, and we will not pretend otherwise before looking. North Bondi sits in the Waverley Council area, ten minutes from us through the Junction. What we treat
Clear aligners, braces and early treatment
For a child this starts as a look rather than a plan. For teenagers and adults it is a choice between fixed braces and removable trays, decided by what has to move.
Clear aligners
Removable trays covering most crowding and spacing. Out for meals and the beach. Clear aligners →
Ceramic braces
Fixed, tooth coloured brackets, for cases needing more control than trays can give. Ceramic braces →
Traditional braces
Steel brackets. Often the right recommendation for a teenager whose bite is still settling. Traditional braces →
Early treatment for children
A first look around seven. Where most North Bondi families begin, and usually where it pauses. Children’s orthodontics →
Adult orthodontics
Routine, and visibility is nearly always the first thing raised. Adult orthodontics →
Retainers
What holds the result and stops it slowly unwinding. Retainers →
Who you’ll see

We ask what brought you in. With children we ask them directly as well.
02
We examine and take records
An examination, then scans or x-rays where needed. Recent x-rays from your dentist can be reused.
03
We explain the options
What is realistic now, and whether waiting would shorten a child’s eventual treatment.

Questions we are asked most often
Do I need a referral?
No. Book an assessment directly.
How far is the practice from North Bondi?
Ten minutes by car through Bondi Junction, or the 333 or 380 to the interchange. We are at 135 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra 2025.
When should a child first be seen?
Around age seven, when enough adult teeth are through to show how the jaws are developing. Most first appointments end with a review date rather than braces.
Can adults have treatment without it being obvious?
In most cases. Aligners are removable and close to invisible; ceramic braces use tooth coloured brackets. Where the bite needs real correction fixed braces are still required.
Are clear aligners suitable for everyone?
No. They cover most crowding and spacing but only work while worn, and some corrections need the constant control of fixed braces.
What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?
Three further years of full time specialist training in moving teeth and correcting bites.
How long does treatment run?
A few months to about two years, depending on what is being corrected.
What will it cost?
We go through it at the assessment once the treatment is known.
