The southern edge
A longer trip, and a shorter schedule than you would expect
South Coogee, NSW sits towards the southern boundary of the area we cover, so the drive is a real consideration rather than something to gloss over. Fifteen minutes up Carrington Road, each way.
What makes that workable is the shape of orthodontic treatment. The long appointments are all at the beginning — planning, records, fitting the appliance. Everything after that is short reviews spaced several weeks apart. Across a two year course that is far fewer trips than most people assume, and we will tell you the likely number before you commit rather than after.
The clinical work is the same as anywhere. Children are best looked at around seven, when enough adult teeth are through to show how the jaws are growing. Teenagers usually end up in fixed braces. Adults get a genuine choice between trays and ceramic brackets. South Coogee sits in the City of Randwick area. More about us as an orthodontist in Sydney.

What we treat
Braces, clear aligners and early treatment
The appliance matters and so does the number of visits. At this distance we treat the second as part of the recommendation.
Clear aligners
Removable trays, changed at home, which can mean fewer trips than some fixed treatments. Clear aligners →
Ceramic braces
Fixed, tooth coloured brackets, doing the work of steel much less visibly. Ceramic braces →
Traditional braces
Steel brackets. Often the shortest overall course, which counts when each visit is a drive. Braces →
Early treatment for children
A first look around seven, usually producing a review date rather than treatment. Early treatment for children →
Adult orthodontics
Routine, and visibility is nearly always the first thing raised. Adult orthodontics →
Retainers
What holds the result and stops it slowly unwinding. Retainers →

Questions we are asked most often
Do I need a referral?
No. Book an assessment directly.
How far is the practice from South Coogee?
Fifteen minutes by car via Carrington Road and Bondi Junction. We are at 135 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra 2025. It is a longer trip than for most of our patients, so we set out the schedule at the first visit.
How many appointments will treatment involve?
After planning and fitting, reviews are short and typically several weeks apart, so it is rarely frequent. We will give you a realistic picture up front so you can weigh the travel before deciding.
Can appointments be grouped to reduce trips?
Where it is clinically sensible, yes. Some stages need a set interval between visits and cannot be compressed, but we will plan around the distance where the treatment allows. Raise it at the assessment.
When should a child first be seen?
Around age seven, when enough adult teeth are through to show how the jaws are developing.
What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?
Three further years of full time specialist training in tooth movement and bite correction.
How long does treatment run?
A few months to about two years, depending on what is being corrected.
What will it cost?
We go through it at the assessment once the treatment is known.
