Up the hill
Five minutes up the road, not a trip into the city
Bondi, NSW sends us a fairly even mix of teenagers and adults, and they arrive with different problems. The teenage cases are usually straightforward crowding that became obvious once the last adult teeth came through. The adult ones creep up — a lower tooth that has rotated over a decade, or a result from school that has quietly undone itself.
What both groups want to know is the same. How visible is this, and how often do I have to come in. Ceramic brackets sit far less noticeably than steel. Aligners come out for meals, the beach and photographs. Reviews are short and weeks apart.
The practical argument for us over a city practice is not clinical, it is arithmetic: five minutes each way, across two years of appointments, inside the Waverley Council catchment rather than beyond it. If you are comparing options, our general approach is set out on the orthodontist in Sydney page.

What we treat
Braces and clear aligners for Bondi adults and teenagers
Three options cover almost every enquiry from Bondi: ceramic braces, metal braces and clear aligners. The right one depends on how far the teeth have to move and whether the bite has to change with them.
Clear aligners
Removable trays, changed weekly. Popular with adults who want nothing visible at work and teenagers who want them out for sport. Clear aligners →
Ceramic braces
Tooth coloured brackets, fixed in place. The most requested option locally, and the reason is obvious the moment you see them. Ceramic and metal braces →
Traditional braces
Steel brackets. For a teenager whose bite is still settling these are often the sensible call rather than a compromise. Traditional braces →
Early treatment for children
A first look around seven shows how the jaws are growing. Most end in a review date, not braces. Early treatment for children →
Adult orthodontics
One of the most common enquiries we take from Bondi, and usually about crowding that arrived slowly. Adult orthodontics →
Retainers
What holds the result. If your teeth drifted after braces years ago, this is why. Retainers →

Your first visit
What happens when you come in
Allow around an hour for the first visit. You are welcome to bring a partner or parent, and there is no obligation to start treatment on the day.
01
We talk it through
We ask what brought you in. With teenagers we ask them directly, not just the parent in the room.
02
We examine and take records
An examination, then scans or x-rays where we need to see below the gum. Recent x-rays from your dentist can be reused.
03
We explain the options
What is realistic, what each appliance involves and how long it runs. If ceramic would beat aligners on time, that is what we will recommend.
04
You take it away
You take it away rather than sign anything. Nothing is booked on the day.
Two practices, both easy to reach
Questions we are asked most often
Do I need a referral?
No. Book an assessment directly. Bring your dentist’s letter and recent x-rays if you were referred.
How far is the practice from Bondi?
About five minutes by car along Bondi Road, or the 333 or 380 to Bondi Junction and a short hop from there. We are at 135 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra 2025.
Ceramic, metal or aligners?
Metal is the most versatile where the bite needs real correction. Ceramic does the same work far less visibly. Aligners suit crowding and spacing and come out for meals. The case decides, and we will tell you which will actually get the result you are describing.
Can my teenager keep playing sport?
Yes. Fixed braces and contact sport work fine with a mouthguard fitted over the appliance, and aligners simply come out for a game. Raise it at the assessment so the plan accounts for it.
What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?
An orthodontist has done three further years of full time specialist training in moving teeth and correcting bites. Your dentist handles general care.
When should a child first be seen?
Around age seven, when enough adult teeth are through to show how the jaws are developing. It usually means a review date rather than treatment.
How long will it take?
A few months to about two years. Crowded front teeth are quick; changing the bite is not.
What will it cost?
We go through it at the assessment once the treatment is known. You will have it in writing before anything starts.
