The southern edge

Worth being straight about the distance

Chifley, NSW sits at the southern end of what we cover, so here is the honest version: you are looking at roughly twenty-three minutes up Anzac Parade, not a five minute hop. Whether that is reasonable depends on something people rarely ask about, which is how orthodontic treatment is actually structured.

The long appointments are at the front — planning, records, fitting. After that, reviews are short and spaced several weeks apart. It is rarely a weekly commitment, and we will give you the likely number of visits before you decide anything.

The other thing worth saying is what we are not. We are a specialist orthodontic practice, not a general dental one, so we straighten teeth and correct bites rather than doing check ups and fillings. Most people from Chifley keep a dentist close to home and see us only for the orthodontic part, which is a perfectly sensible arrangement. Chifley sits in the City of Randwick area. More on us as an orthodontist in Sydney.

The full spread of suburbs we cover sits on our areas we service page.

What we treat

Braces and clear aligners for Chifley patients

The appliance matters, and so does the number of visits it will take. At this distance we treat the second as part of the recommendation rather than a detail.

Clear aligners

Removable trays, changed at home rather than in the chair, which can mean fewer visits. Clear aligners →

Ceramic braces

Fixed, tooth coloured brackets, doing the work of steel without the appearance. Ceramic braces →

Traditional braces

Steel brackets. Frequently the shortest overall course, which counts when each visit is a drive. Braces →

Early treatment for children

A first look around seven, usually ending in a review date rather than treatment. Children’s orthodontics →

Adult orthodontics

Routine. Teeth keep moving through adult life and starting later is unremarkable. Adult orthodontics →

Retainers

What holds the result. We will explain the options and how long each is worn. Retainers →

Your first visit

What happens when you come in

Allow around an hour for the first visit. You are welcome to bring a partner or parent, and there is no obligation to start treatment on the day.

01

We talk it through

We ask what brought you in and what you would change.

02

We examine and take records

An examination, then scans or x-rays where needed. If your dentist has recent x-rays, bring them and we will not repeat them.

03

We explain the options

What is realistic, and how many visits it would take. At this distance that is a decisive number, not a footnote.

04

You take it away

You take it home. Nothing is booked, so the trip commits you to nothing.

Both practices

Questions from Chifley

Questions we are asked most often

Do I need a referral?

No. Book directly. Many Chifley patients keep a general dentist locally and see us only for the orthodontic treatment.

Twenty-three minutes by car up Anzac Parade through Bondi Junction. We are at 135 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra 2025. It is a longer trip than for most of our patients, so we set out the appointment schedule up front.

A specialist orthodontic practice. An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed three further years of full time specialist training in moving teeth and correcting bites. We do not provide general dental care such as check ups and fillings.

After planning and fitting, reviews are usually short and several weeks apart, so it is rarely a weekly commitment. We will give you a realistic picture at the first appointment so you can weigh the travel before deciding.

A few months to about two years, depending on what is being corrected.

Around age seven, when enough adult teeth are through to show how the jaws are developing.

In most cases, using aligners or ceramic braces with tooth coloured brackets.

We go through it at the assessment once the treatment is known.
