The southern edge
Nearly always a question about a child
What reaches us from Daceyville, NSW is overwhelmingly about children. When should a child first be looked at, is anything needed now, and will waiting make it worse.
The short version: around seven is when a first look becomes genuinely informative, because enough adult teeth are through to show how the jaws are developing. Waiting rarely makes anything worse, and starting early sometimes makes the overall course longer rather than shorter. Most first appointments here end with a date to come back rather than a plan to begin.
Where guiding growth now would genuinely simplify later treatment, we will say so and explain exactly what that involves before anything starts. Daceyville sits in the Bayside Council area, twenty minutes up Anzac Parade, and because that is a real trip we set out the likely schedule at the first visit. What we treat
Children’s orthodontics and braces for Daceyville
For a child this begins as an assessment rather than a treatment plan. For adults and teenagers it is a choice between fixed braces and removable trays.
Clear aligners
Removable trays, changed at home rather than in the chair. Clear aligners →
Ceramic braces
Fixed, tooth coloured brackets, doing the work of steel without the appearance. Ceramic braces →
Traditional braces
Steel brackets. Frequently the shortest overall course, which matters at this distance. Braces →
Early treatment for children
What Daceyville asks about most. A first look around seven, usually producing a review date. Early treatment for children →
Adult orthodontics
Routine work. Teeth keep moving through adult life and starting later is unremarkable. Adult orthodontics →
Retainers
What holds the result once the appliance comes off. Retainers →

You take it away
You take it home. Nothing is booked, so the trip commits you to nothing.
Two practices, both easy to reach
Questions we are asked most often
Do I need a referral?
No. Book directly. Many Daceyville families keep a general dentist locally and see us only for orthodontics.
How far is the practice from Daceyville?
Twenty minutes by car via Anzac Parade and Bondi Junction. We are at 135 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra 2025.
When should a child first be seen?
Around age seven. Enough adult teeth are usually through by then to show how the jaws and remaining teeth are developing. It does not mean treatment starts at that age — most children are simply reviewed periodically until the timing is right, which often makes the eventual treatment shorter.
Does an early appointment mean early braces?
Usually not. Most first assessments end with a review date. Starting too early can lengthen the overall course, so we begin where the work will be shortest and most effective.
How many appointments will treatment involve?
After planning and fitting, reviews are short and typically several weeks apart. Given the distance we set out a realistic schedule at the first appointment.
Are you a general dentist as well?
No. We are a specialist orthodontic practice, handling tooth movement and bite correction rather than check ups and fillings.
How long does treatment run?
A few months to about two years, depending on what is being corrected.
What will it cost?
We go through it at the assessment once the treatment is known.
